This high-speed wheel/rail simulation facility is composed of a simulation wheel roller, simulation rail roller, driving system of attack angle, excitation system, DC traction motor, diaphragm thimble, gear shift housing, virtual wheel installation, etc.
Functions:
This unit can simulate wheel/rail behavior under high-speed conditions of up to 350 km/h with an axle loading capacity of 30 tons. The unit studies the friction and wear of high-speed wheel/rail interaction, fatigue damage of high-speed wheel/rail, adhesion of high-speed wheel/rail, optimized matching of wheel/rail material, wheel/rail vibration, and so on. The facility can accurately control the rolling-sliding behavior, contact stress, attack angle of wheel/rail, and vibration characteristics. It may recreate different types of wearing processes, checking and fatigue crack damaging of wheel/rails.
● Capable of conducting experimental investigation with Hertz stress simulation.
● Capable of simulating traction, braking and pure rolling conditions under different loads and speeds (maximal speed 350km/h).
● Capable of simulating different surface contamination conditions of wheels and rails (e.g. presence of pollutants like water, lubricant, diesel, oil, corrosion, sand, etc. on rails).
● Capable of simulating different material matching tribology behavior of wheel and rail.
● Capable of studying characteristics of lubricants.
● Capable of simulating different constant adhesion and creepage.
● Capable of both tangent regime and curve negotiation at different angels of attack.
